I thought it would be fitting to finish off 2015 with the first wedding I photographed this year and I have to say it was a sweet one. Not only does Sarah and James’ wedding hold a special place in my heart, their wedding also got published in the latest issue of Weddingbells, yay! It’s been really hard not sharing their wedding for almost a year but it’s so worth it to see their wedding in print.
I wanted to start off the post with their first look before we get into their wedding. It’s no secret I’m a fan of first looks, it’s a little less traditional but so personal and emotional for couples, which I love so much. And Sarah and James’ first look was so honest and filled with genuine emotions. Sarah was tearing up just talking about seeing her groom for the first time and James, well he was a little confused with how the first look worked. I remember getting a little teary all while giggling behind the camera capturing this moment, definitely a favourite from this year.
While Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready at the Holcim Waterfront Estate, James and his groomsmen got ready at a nearby hotel. Blue suits and tuxes were definitely popular this year, and I can see why, James looked so good in it.
Plus these really cute and simple boutonnieres from deLight Floral and Design was the perfect finishing touch for James and his groomsmen.
Sarah and James’ matching Korean wedding attire for later in the evening. I loved that Sarah’s hanbok was a modern twist to the traditional one which is usually red and pink. She kept with her wedding colours and modified the front of it as well. It was a really nice nod to their culture on their wedding day.
Sarah had always wanted a romantic wedding. It started with booking the historic Holcim Waterfront Estate and from there other elements fell into place for her. Like her gorgeous lace wedding gown from Becker’s Bridal and here you also see the start of Suzie Kim working her hair magic who is amazing at creating the most romantic hairstyles for her brides.
Sarah is such a stunning bride inside and out. She is so incredibly genuine, thoughtful and kind. And normally, people would probably say James is a lucky man (which he is) but Sarah is lucky too, she has found someone who is just as thoughtful and kind as her. When you see Sarah and James together you totally get it!
Holcim Waterfront Estate itself is a beautiful building and on top of that it’s surrounded by natural grounds, tall trees and overlooks Lake Ontario.
Karen Kim did such a wonderful job on making Sarah and her girls natural beauties. And their hair, all were technically the same style, half up and half down, but Suzie Kim made them all special and added in details to make each of them unique.
For their ceremony, they opted for outdoors, which was gorgeous with the beautiful weather we were having that day. Their ceremony overlooked Lake Ontario in the distance with the estate as the stunning backdrop. deLight Florals also created garden inspired ceremony decor and bouquets for the girls to compliment their romantic wedding.
Seriously, how cute are these two? They make my heart smile!
The beautiful moms and their complimenting hanboks.
James with his adorable nephew, aka his mini me.
Thank you Sarah and James for allowing me to be part of your journey and trusting me with so many aspects of your wedding. It seemed to all happen so fast yet I still remember it like it was yesterday. Sarah, I miss our long emails and chats. A coffee date is much needed!
And that’s the end of 2015, what a year it has been. I’m so very grateful and humbled by the wonderful people and events that have happened. I have been so lucky to get to do what I love and get to meet such sincere and fun people, travel around the world, fill my belly with the yummiest food and continue to be inspired while doing it. There’s so many moments that I will hold dear to my heart, 2015 you have treated me well! I’m so excited to see what 2016 will bring, wishing you all a wonderful new year with your nearest and dearest!
