Valentine’s is extra special for me because my daughter was born right between that and Family Day. I used to not really celebrate Valentine’s, I wasn’t a fan of the crowded restaurants and the obligated gestures of affection, however once she was born all of that changed for me. Valentine’s was fun for my daughter, she loves all the hearts, kisses and cute things that go with it. Last year was the first year my daughter was old enough to make her own Valentine’s cards to hand out (mainly sticking stickers all over a card but she was so proud of them which made me really proud too). And this year was the first year she asked me to be her Valentine and that she wanted me to always be my Valentine (seriously my heart melted, I’m pretty sure my husband got jealous too). I know this phase won’t last so I want to soak up every little bit of it! So although I know Valentine’s can sometimes feel forced and not for everyone, it’s still a great excuse to celebrate those you love around you and do something extra special for them. Just like this Galentine’s that Jacquelyn (Lark and Linen) and Gaby (The Vault Files) styled and planned for those special ladies in their lives, Valentine’s isn’t always just about your significant other, celebrate all those other special relationship in your lives too, like your girlfriends, daughters, mothers and sisters! This Galentine’s high tea will definitely make anyone in your life feel extra loved, see more of it featured on Style Me Pretty.
The Galentine’s started off with making this beautiful floral wall as the statement backdrop! It does take a little bit of practice but once you get the hang if it, plus some solid advice from Becky (Blush and Bloom) it was done before we knew it. I swear we all cried tiny little tears of joy when it went up!
Seriously, Becky of Blush and Bloom never disappoints, the flowers were so beautiful! It was the perfect compliment to all the goodies the ladies had planned for the high tea, complete with the most delicious mini naked cakes, tiny sandwiches, mini cupcakes, cutest tea themed cookies by The Teeny Tiny Bakery and finished off the perfect cup of Sloane tea. A lot of these were DIYs which I’ll include the links to the tutorials at the bottom of this post, so you can try them out yourselves too!
Gaby also made these really cute heart shaped sugar cubes, also very simple to make for that added personal touch.
Such a fun afternoon for you and your fave ladies, plus all the sugar will keep you chatting for hours!
And Valentine’s isn’t the only time you can spoil someone with an afternoon of beautiful florals, teas and treats, there’s also Mother’s day that’s coming up and for all the special brides-to-be in your lives, who could really use a relaxing and pretty bridal shower after months and months of stressful wedding planning. So spoil away and have a very love filled Valentine’s day! xo
