To be honest, I was a bit nervous when Janet first inquired with me to photograph her wedding. You see, she’s a really talented wedding photographer and will most likely know all the “insider tricks”. Normally it’s my job to put the couple at ease but because of Janet and John’s sweet and easy going nature, they instantly put me at ease and I knew I really wanted to photograph their wedding after our very first meeting back in November. There was just something about them that made me feel like I was meeting up with old friends and catching up on all the things we love. And hearing about their plans for their intimate, laid back wedding at 99 Sudbury, I just know it will be a really fun gathering of their closest family and friends.
We met up in the Corktown area of Toronto because it’s close to a really yummy dessert shop that Janet and John wanted to have their engagement shoot at. They are both very committed foodies (you should check our Janet’s Instagram feed, but make sure you don’t do it on an empty stomach!) and the dessert shop felt like the perfect place for them. It was calling for thunderstorms that afternoon so we took advantage of the sun and started the session outside. Fortunately, it didn’t end up raining till late in the evening so we got to walk around and explore the area a bit more.Ming, my multi-talented friend who not only designed the custom TYTAN bow tie for John, he’s also the owner of Puzzle Creations who gave Janet her beautiful, beachy waves and on top of that was the one who styled their outfits. Don’t they look so good together?! I loved their easy-going outfits, really reflected their personality. And then we stumbled upon this cute little street. That’s the thing I love about engagement sessions, we never know what gems we can find. Janet and John had brought an umbrella in case of the rain and it was yellow, just like the one in How I Met Your Mother, that they both loved watching together. I thought it really complimented the feel of this street and had some fun with it.Then we finally made our way back to the yummy dessert shop, Roselle. If only I could include a little “scratch n’ sniff” to my images, so that you could experience not only how delicious the desserts looked but how amazing they smelled. Of course we had a little taste too!It was a hard choice to just pick one, so Janet and John picked a few desserts to try. And why not, always a good idea to indulge a little especially for your engagement session.I love this image of Janet and John, they are just so cute! Look at John’s determination to get to that slice of cake and the pure bliss on Janet’s face. Roselle definitely makes some of the most delicious desserts I’ve ever had! Couldn’t have said it better myself “Dessert makes you happy” and just look at these two! I need one of those signs in my kitchen.Thank you Janet and John for such a fun and yummy engagement session! Your wedding is only a month away but it really can’t come soon enough. Can’t wait to share all the love with you guys at 99 Sudbury in August!
