Yvette + Mike | Wedding

About a month ago was a very special couple’s wedding, Yvette + Mike. I first met them last November when Joee invited me to tag along for their engagement session. We hit it off right away but there was no way we wouldn’t because Yvette and Mike are one of the most genuine, thoughtful and funny people you’ll ever meet. After the engagement session, I would get random emails from Yvette asking me how I was doing and giving me updates on the wedding plans. They were always so grateful for everything – the pictures, advice, tips, etc. which made me want to help them out even more. Their positive energy was so infectious that I really couldn’t wait for their wedding day!

The morning of Yvette + Mike’s wedding day, I spent the morning with Mike. A couple nights before at the rehearsal, I had told him to not get changed until I got to his house, so when I arrived at his house I could tell he was quite anxious to get ready. He said he wasn’t really sure what to expect but it was definitely not what he ended up experiencing, which was having 3 cameras documenting his every move while he was changing (there were 2 videographers there as well). To this day he still says it’s the most awkward morning he has every had but definitely a memorable one lol!

We were ahead of schedule after Mike was done changing, so we hung out with his awesome groomsmen and family until it was time to go. We headed over to the Merciful Redeemer before the guests arrived so that Mike could enjoy some quiet time and his last moments as a single man.It wasn’t long until friends and family started arriving, Yvette stayed in the car until the last moment before the ceremony started. It was a mad dash to the door because the rain wasn’t letting up at all but you know what they say “It’s good luck when it rains on your wedding day” and you can tell from Yvette’s expression she wasn’t phased by the rain at all. Once she got into the lobby, I was going to sneak off back to the front of the church but Yvette called me back to give me hug, isn’t she the sweetest? (Hair by the stylish Ming, Puzzle Creations and make-up by the beautiful Vanessa Funtera)You know, you can never get enough Holy Water, so Mike’s best man got an extra sprinkle when he brought up the rings. The weather still wasn’t cooperating, so after their ceremony we headed over to their venue at La Primavera to stay warm and dry. What an amazing event it was to see these two tie the knot! We watched two different cultures blend together and everyone was smiling and laughing the whole night. That’s what weddings are all about, bringing friends and new families together, it was such a joy to witness and document it all.

A few nights ago, we met up for a mini reunion! It was so great to see them again and to hear about their honeymoon, I had given them some pointers since they went to Maui, the same place I went to for my honeymoon. Listening to their stories definitely made me want to go back, hopefully sooner than later. At the end of the night, Yvette and Mike gave us each a card. I opened it when I got home and I was floored, it was a personalized thank you card with pictures we had taken together at their engagement and their wedding. It’s things like this that makes me love what I do even more, I feel so humbled by Yvette and Mike’s gesture and words. Yvette and Mike, thanks again for including me in your special day, you guys are so rare and I’m so lucky to have met you guys!
