My Photography Studio by Lark and Linen | Featured on Rue

My family and I have moved so many times now, that it’s become a running joke. Basically at each major get together with friends and family we get asked “Did you move again?”. In the last 4 years we’ve moved 3 times and I think in my life time over 15 times, it got to the point where I wouldn’t even bother unpacking all my boxes. Thankfully though, I think we’ll be staying at this house for a long time (I will have to resist searching for fixer uppers for “fun”, what can I say? I just love doing renos).

Ever since I started my photography business 6 years ago, one of my goals was to eventually have a studio space. When we found our current home, I instantly fell in love with all the natural light and the potential it had, it needed a lot of updating but I was up for the challenge. Plus, I had my dear Jacquelyn, the super talented interior designer of Lark and Linen helping me design the space, I pretty much left it in her very capable hands and she turned my dreams into a reality! To delve a little deeper into Jacquelyn’s creative genius, pop on over to Rue where the studio design is being featured.

Jacquelyn’s signature style is feminine but with a mix of edge, she loves to always throw in an element of surprise to keep from feeling overly feminine. I wanted a neutral space with lots of whites and cream to balance out my dark table. I love how Jacquelyn mixed in these unexpected elements of graphic lines, light and dark stones, all while keeping the space very open and inviting.

The garden inspired florals from Blush and Bloom really gave the space the perfect finishing touch. Now I want fresh flowers at home all the time!

I’m so happy to have a space now to hang up my prints, display my fine art wedding albums and also show off my favourite men’s accessories designed by TYTAN, which are locally made here in Toronto. I have to say it’s really nice to finally see this space come together, especially since we’re celebrating our one year in this home very soon!
