Bonjour toute le monde! It’s been amazing and so busy since Therese, Gary and I arrived in France on Tuesday. The first couple of days was all about eating and getting to know Paris, a girl can never have enough French cheese, art and architecture. It’s been unbelievable for all my senses, there’s even some smells here that remind me of downtown Toronto if you know what I mean lol.
On Thursday, we met up with our favourite Parisian couple, Melanie + Anthony for their engagement shoot, they showed us around Montmartre which is one of my favourite parts of Paris with the little boutiques and artists painting throughout the streets, after that we made a quick stop at the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. It was packed with tourists, lines for going up the tower was so long you couldn’t even see the end of it, we’ll have to make a point to go early one day to avoid the lines. After that we headed over to the town where Melanie grew up, Marly le Roi, on the way there we experienced true Parisian traffic, all part of the experience! Marly le Roi is this cute little French town complete with beautiful French homes and windy little roads going up and down the sloppy hills. After driving here for 2 days I think we’ve mastered every kind of roundabout. When we finally go to Melanie’s house, we were greeted by Melanie + Anthony’s sweet and kind parents. Their dads are pretty fluent in English, however their moms are still learning so I had to break out my broken French, we managed to understand each other and even make some jokes!
There’s so much that has happened the last few days that I can probably write a full essay but I won’t, I’ll get to the good stuff! Today Melanie + Anthony had their civil ceremony where they officially got married!!! In France, the tradition is to do the legal ceremony and sign the papers first before they do the church ceremony, so no matter what happens tomorrow they are already legally married. They had their civil ceremony at the Marly le Roi Hotel Ville (cityhall) which was just beautiful, I couldn’t believe that was their city hall! Their ceremony was short but sweet and only close friends and family attended so it was really romantic and intimate. Here’s a little teaser from today and more to come from their engagement shoot and their wedding celebration tomorrow.
Congratulations M. et Mme. V! The celebration continues!!
P.s. Happy Canada Day to friends and family back home! 🙂
