Featured in Style Me Pretty Living | Kali’s 2nd Birthday

After Kali’s big party last year for her 1st birthday, Gary and I decided we would only have parties for Kali every 5 years because in all honesty it’s just too much work. So that was the plan this year, no party just something small with our immediate families! But then I thought if we’re not having a party we should at least have a special cake for her, something small but meaningful. She loves The Paperbag Princess, it’s on regular rotation for our bedtime stories, so I thought why not have a 1 tier cake with the princess and the dragon on it. My friend Sharon of Bloom Cake Co did such an amazing job with her 1st birthday cake (and many others for our family), I had to ask her to do this one too! After texting for a couple minutes and Sharon loving the theme so much we decided to go all out and have a sweet table for Kali…so much for the simple 1 tiered cake lol. While I furiously crafted like a crazy woman to make the backdrop and decor in 2 days, Sharon created the cutest sweets for the sweet table. She did an amazing job with the cake, the princess and the dragon had their own personal castle. The cake itself was rainbow confetti with strawberry buttercream, so yummy! Of course Kali devoured her cupcake which was just as yummy as the cake. Everything Sharon created tasted as good as it looked! And because everything looked so good, we were super happy it got featured on Style Me Pretty Living today. I could go on and on about all the desserts but I’ll let you enjoy the images below.

So cute! Can you please tell me where you got her cute crown and fabulous backdrop?

      Hi Mikki,

Thanks! Both the crown and backdrop was DIY. The crown is made with sparkly gold felt with a hair clip at the bottom. The backdrop I used acrylic paint on kraft paper. Hope that helps!ReplyCancel
